Pamela Anderson – the Russian-Finnish beauty
Pamela Denise Anderson was born in Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada. Her great-grandfather was Finnish and left the Grand Duchy of Finland (a part of the Russian Empire at the time) for America in 1908. Anderson's mother, doing ancestry research, found out her grandmother was native Russian and not Dutch, as the family had believed.
Anderson's early years were full of suffering that, surprisingly, did not break her, but only strengthened her character and the will to succeed. She suffered frequent sexual abuse as a child: she was molested by a female babysitter when she was 6, raped by a man when she was twelve, and gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends when she was fourteen...
Her career started right after her birth: she became Canada's "Centennial Baby"  – the first baby born on July 1, 1967, the 100th anniversary of Canada's founding!
In 1989, Anderson went to a football match in Vancouver, and was caught by cameras wearing a tightly-fitted Labatt's Beer t-shirt; the image was shown on the stadium's huge screen and caused such an immense uproar in the crowd, that the brewery's executives hired Pamela for a PR campaign.
Very soon she appeared as the cover girl on Playboy magazine's October issue. After that she decided to move to Los Angeles and pursue the career of a professional model. In February 1990 she was selected the Playmate of the Month, and she appeared in the centerfold photo of the magazine. Anderson has appeared in Playboy many times from 1989 to 2011, becoming the magazine's most frequent model!
While still working as a model, she landed a small role in the hit television sitcom Home Improvement, and stayed with the show for two years before being invited to play a character in the legendary Baywatch series, in which she would continue to star between 1992 and 1998.
A long list of movies followed - movies in which she mostly played herself: Scooby-Doo, Scary Movie 3, Pauly Shore Is Dead, No Rules, Borat, Costa Rican Summer etc. The only notable nomination she got was the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight in the 1996 film Barb Wire.
Anderson is a very active member of PETA. In 2003 she stripped down for PETA's "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" campaign. And in 2006 she posed naked in the Stella McCartney boutique in London, England.
Her personal life has given much fuel to tabloids. She was married to musician Tommy Lee and had two children from him. The marriage was marred by her Hepatitis C infection from sharing tattoo needles (and a death scare – she misunderstood the prognosis and though she only had 10-15 years to live), and the scandalous sex tape leak. Later she had a romance with a male model Marcus Schenkenberg, then another musician, Bret Michaels, then still another musician, Kid Rock. Finally she settled on producer Rick Salomon, to whom she is married now.
